introducing: scorpion grass

My name is Marcella Flowers and I am an independent musical artist. For my 25th birthday today - November 7, 2023 - I've released my first ever single off of my upcoming debut album, Solar Stars + Lunar Flowers.

Each of these songs is a diary entry for myself in many ways. They all have their own personality and story to it, and the genres vary, differing entirely in some cases. There are a number of ways I've decided to expand the pastel dreampop world of SS+LF including candles, short stories, short-style videos, jewelry, pins, candy, etc.

To accompany every song on the album is a corresponding candle scent created by myself and made by hand, also by myself with the occasional help of some friends and family.

"scorpion grass" is the first track of the album, and the first song recorded and finished for the album. The song explores my personal struggles with fears of abandonment and the impermanence of close relationships, not just limited to romantic or intimate ones.

EDIT 1-23-2024: I've recently updated the single cover art of both scorpion grass & garden girls to create more cohesion with the candles. I will be finding other ways of bringing my painting and digital artwork to life alongside the songs.
